Removing Blown Glass Panes using Rope Access
Following an emergency call-out from a prestigious client, Sutro rope access engineers mobilised in an expedited timescale to remove and make safe a number of blown safety window panes.
Working with the facilities management contractor, the IRATA trained team quickly and efficiently removed the panes of glass whilst ensuring working at height safety remained at the forefront of the task in hand.
Managing the exclusion zone at grade, the team removed all of the safety glass to ground level and liaised with the client as to the correct disposal route.
A final clean was undertaken before handing back the work area to the client to allow another contractor to re-fit a new safety pane.
Compared to other methods of accessing the building, rope access was by far the fastest and most economical way to remove the glass and make the site safe. Due to the flexibility and manoeuvrability compared to other forms of access, rope access is the perfect choice for office blocks and other high-rise buildings.
